I agree with you Julie about Fanfest, too many people for me to contend with and it would be hot and noisy - maybe I'm getting old! Rolling Eyes

I would love to go to the Opry show though, where ever it may now be. Smile

Let me tell ya ladies, I just read what we call the newspaper here in Nash The Tennessean, and NO mention of Dwight at the Opry or at the Fan Fest thingy!!!!!!!! Now how insulting is that? The best country music star and NO mention of him in the main Nash paper! Insulting!

However, I will be at the Opry with bells on! Can't wait to see Dwight! I will also enjoy the performances of Mel Tillis and Charlie Pride. Have never been to the new Opry, just the Ryman. Still find the magic at the Ryman. You can read my thoughts on the new Opry on the thread Forrest started. Will keep an open mind though!

Right now my father and his girlfriend are in Provence in a town called Sablet. They have been there for almost two months and love it! Of course my dad is half French, so he is having a great time! He just called me yesterday and I miss him so much but am glad he is eating some great food and drinking some great wine!

Hi all Dwight fans,

I just joined other day and wanted to say hi. I was looking at some threads and seen this thread is updated pretty much. Some other threads are older and not much discuission but seen this one you are discussing.

I am not joining the fan club of Dwight's where it cost 23.00 so thought I'd join up here for news on Dwight, a DY friend had told me about this board.

My pics of the Opry did not turn out so well Katy and all, I am sorry! I stopped after the first song so I could enjoy Dwight without having to focus and catch the right moment since I kept missing it.
If you go to the Listening thread under Others on this forum you can see my review of the whole concert. Dwight was WONDERFUL!! He looked great in his jeans, much like the pics you used for your collage Katy!

Hey Nora! I posted on your thread. Sorry I haven't been on to post there earlier! Here is what I wrote in case you don't get back there:

Hey Nora! I know that Dwight has soothed me through some health issues! Not the female kind, but it doesn't matter, it's just nice to hear his voice. Of course for me, he is not the only one I listen to in those hard times. But I digress since you asked about his sad songs.

This is what I have learned about country music. A lot of the songs are sad. Always someone leavin' someone, someone drinkin' their blues away and so on and so forth. But what I have come to realize when listening to my rock, metal and goth music is that there are lots of sad songs there, just set to different music. I consider songs poetry and sometimes I believe singers write out what is bothering them or making them mad through songs just like poets do with poems. Now not all poems are sad or mad, but that is a different subject.

Sorry you could not find someone on the board to post to. Some of us come and go (most of us are on RT 23, Dwight's official fan site) and come around here to post when we get a chance.
Check out the Listening thread under Others on this board. It's down at the bottom under the Dwight subjects. There are some well versed music lovers down there who love to talk about Dwight and every other kind of music in between!

Now I will print on of the saddest songs I know that Dwight did not write. It was written by Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam (rock) and he is the one on my signature line:

Forgot my to say hey to my pals Retta and Trish! Hey gals!

Oh and Katy, Dwight used the guitar with the beautiful carving near the hole of the guitar for the Opry concert! Lovely instrument and I only saw the detail on the large screens they provide there at the new Opry 'cause otherwise I would have missed that being so far away!
