OK gang, I'm in the fold too...and this I state with full knowledge that the official LRH is, at this point, back up and running, albeit once again with no moderation, no user friendly tools, and full access to any and all spammers who wish to post their links to porn and pills.

I'm ready to abbandon the old LRH due to the above issues. Hats off to JUSTBUCKEM and CELTIC ANGEL for being brave enough to deal with the scuttlebutt involved in moderating a message board. I'll volunteer to aid in the moderation process if y'all need an extra hand.

I'm with ya 100% darlin'. It's just a matter of time before the next board meltdown over at the LRH.

A slight amount of even handed moderation goes a long way towards peace and prosperity.

Perhaps, if we can make this board a viable and nurturing community, we can convince Dwight and Co. to link this board to his homepage and thereby kick the ZOOROPA/SHAUN board to the curb.

Dwight's been convinced before, as is evidenced by by the 06/07 New Years Eve picture at the Crystal Palace and his phone call to our dear friend TNACBELLE before her passing...somebody with enough gumption and perserverance just needs to show Dwight how well his message board can be run by people who care about him, rather than people who only care about the bottom line.

It would be good if our two moderators here could be carried
over to LRH. It's a pity, but that place will continue to crumble
every so often with out control of some sort. It's been proven
time and again. Already there is spam posted there.

My sentiments exactly DDiA.

I say this...we start a thread over at the old/original LRH, and link it to this thread...keep it at the top of the board...let the old crew and lookeeloo's know that there is a place for them to go and be amongst true DY fans.

Call the thread THE NEW AND IMPROVED LONESOME ROADS HOTEL. Post a greeting, and ground rules...and then just keep posting on the thread everyday until everybody quits on the old LRH.

Then somebody tell DY to get with the program.

I don't want to encourage people to quit LRH! - it's a bit radical?
But - I do hope measures can be applied to prevent the cycle from
continuing. LRH is a great place to go, when the stirring is not going on
- and if the spam can be deleted by moderators as it arrives, all the better.

I don't think it will help to use strong arm pressure to achieve this.
It's been tried (very undiplomatically!) already. I'm sure he cares
that it be a good experience for all. There must be a far more
productive way than to have a boycott!

Hello Forrest...you make good points but I agree with DDIA about the importance of diplomacy...

I have found this has been such a pleasant place to visit thus far; a link could be good with the guidelines understood...no one has to come here but the invitation is open to all Dwight fans to communicate with civility and decorum and in an enviornment free of spam/porn posters!

I believe it would be a shame for us to abandon the LRH but on the other hand without moderators or spam filters it was "abandoned" by the owners and developers long before the fans joined the temporary LRH.

KentuckyGibsonY2K has amazingly provided us an alternative friendly, well mannered enviornment.

Hopefully we will be able to maintain the basic standards for civility that have been established here.

Slow down now, y'all.

What I'm proposing isn't exactly an abandonment of the LRH per se, but rather an attempt to get the "powers that be" at www.dwightyoakam.com to see that this board is far superior to the LRH due to the fact that it's moderated by people who care enough to tidy up the joint when it gets trashy.

We all know that anything and everything goes at the LRH, which is both a detriment and selling point...honestly, it's the best fan site I've seen in my years on the net, and that's due to the many and varied fans who post there, however, it has some serious problems, all of which stem from it's lack of moderation.

So what I suggest is that we post a thread over at the LRH, entitled perhaps, THE ALTERNATE LONESOME ROADS HOTEL, and let folks know that a more user friendly site exists for Yoakam fans to congregate.
