I found this book about the orgins of country music in California. It is not new, I believe it came out around 1999. It includes chapters on Bob Willis, Rose Maddox, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and even Dwight Yoakam. It is a very interesting book. It is called the Workin' Man Blues: Country Music in California....written by Gerald Haslam.
Someone special to all of us is quoted on the back cover:
"Workin Man Blues is possibly the most astute and thorough examination ever written about country music in California and the impact it has had in our lives and on your culture. I'm extremely flattered to be even mentioned in such august company"....Dwight Yoakam
The man even graces the front cover of the book. If you like to read, interested in the music that came out of California, I recommend this book. |

Well, thank you for posting that link, LoveSickForDwight. Nice cover the author picked for the front of the book, don't you think? |

Yes Zoepatty, 'tis a beautiful cover!
Hopefully it just could be the selling point for any "doubters" to help convince them to BUY the book? I'm going to get it as soon as I can decide which other books I want from Amazon... |
