I'm home! Met lots of wonderful people.
Nothing like spending the evening playing MUSICAL chairs!!!
That's what happened when Dwight took the stage.
I don't know if my pics are any count, but I sure enjoyed it,
for in taking them I got closer than my seat allowed. Dreamy...
I had a lovely evening. And I look forward to seeing it tomorrow on GAC.
Everyone attending Fan Festival tomorrow - Have fun!
please be careful in this heat.
It was over way to quick!
Will discuss it more later...

Read that Under Your Spell wasn't televised...
I had to sit that one out and just watch due to no shots left in my camera.
Will have to wait on watching and taping the show...sigh
but in the meantime I am going to go and get the photos developed.
This deserves a WONE HOUR Special!
CandyCane it was a pleasure meeting you and your husband.
DP and her husband also...
If I left anyone out from this board sorry...just say I WAS THERE!
I think the rest including you'all are over at LRH...
I can never say enough how lucky Dwight is to have all these folks
supporting him.
Traci was an excellent Hostess for this event!Thank You!
Can't wait to do it again!
DYT -Can't wait to do it again!
Melanie- Sandy-Wendy-Patty it was very nice to meet, chat and share
a meal with you.
Can't wait to do it again!
Roses,Ronda, Donna hugs in the Lobby and Laughter on the Patio!
of the Grand Ole Opry...
Can't wait to do it again!
If I don't go ,won't get back !
with more to tell...still grinning!
LIN
There was a drawback to last night...guarded stage access.
That poor lady guarding the isle right in front of Dwight she was 80 if not
older... she held firm though and folks seemed to respect that withered
raised hand with that finger pointing .She was seated facing the audience
with flashes going off in her face.I just wanted to hug her. |

You're Welcome!
I've got a few more to add later! I'm just a little distracted by
seeing Dwight's Name in LIGHTS in the pics from the CMA Festival
over at the LRH....and reading reviews.Great Beautiful Photos!
Maybe a return visit to the Opry or Nashville won't be so far away in
the future.

Hey DP! Glad to see you check in and made it home okay.
I had that feeling too. I see us yaking away Shaded poolside or
Sunset beachside ...
like we've known each other for years.Look forward to it.
And we will sometime soon.
And as far as Dwight returning to Nashville I see it happening!
Next time I hope you and CC can hang around a little longer.
I hope to see CC at the Aug.2 BBT event and maybe Traci and DYT
and anyone else who can make it.
I want to do a NK event also and am keeping my eyes open
with her tour dates.
I felt like we were all 5 minute Speed Friending. Next!LOL!
Yesterday watched the Grand Ole Opry on tape.
It was done really well but leaves out lots of how it was LIVE.
I'll discuss that more later also.

first, i apologize for the length of this but my access to a reasonable puter these days is quite limited. i have to say what i can, when i can, for the most part, tho i do try to have a little fun! lol!
i may disappear altogether until the situation changes - even at the official DY BB, for fear of coming off as rude or self-centered (it's nearly impossible to follow events).
===============================================
great, interesting thread.
^at DY's side during The GOO show^
=============================================
as BL said much better than i can: it was about the journey, the many generations who have done it before us, the show of support for a favorite artist and meeting friends; but mostly, it was about seeing our hero being recognized by those who may have shunned him in the past - well, maybe not shunned but they were way less than encouraging!
even a little mean to our guy....
it was wonderful being there.
it felt like a special night for our resident hero tho i have no way to confirm that it was.
he appeared happy to be there and the look that he gave, at the end...he looked directly up into the balcony and had this BIG smile.....his face was open, like he was really looking back..... it was brief but unusual for him....
quite by accident, i had the great good fortune to run into DY's keyboard player of many years, Skip Edwards, after the show.
We were introduced and talk for a while, in a small group of other friends. He's such a gentleman and is always so professional, loves what he's doing and takes the time to meet fans/friends.
i'm not sure if he even makes the distinction!
it was a nervous highlight for me.
he did say that there were NO further DY dates; that we know what he knows.
DY is just doing his acting thang and working on music, as always.
Skip also mentioned something about acrobats and Brazil...er, um, sumthing along those lines....
by then i was in a tizzy, overheated (96 degrees was expected that day and we were outside), literally walking away from DY's performance and i am shy enough that the want to run away kept interrupting my thought process.
so i may be off a tad regarding that last bit.
=============================================
i refer to The Gaylord/Opryland thang as Nashville's answer to Disney. it appears to be a reasonable comparison.
doesn't make it any less lovely or comfortable (exactly what we needed at this particular time), only less historic and more expensive (holy crap! ). Aside from getting the frequent urge to mooo-oo-o, (ha! my usual reaction to being in a crowd) i got the very distinct feeling that i had been there before.
i had.
it was called Epcot/Disney's Grand Floridian/Portofino hotel.
one or all of those......you could be anywhere on the planet and it wouldn't make a difference. Heck, most of the greenery i saw was from MY OWN TROPICAL CLIMATE!! what is up with that?!? disappointing.....
that's the sad part for me.
Nashville is a lot about the history of it all and that is lost in the shuffle, tho it was still in my thoughts and heart.
can't take THAT away....
but it's a way to handle the volume of those interested and to make big bucks doing it.
the basic law of supply and demand.
next time, i will do my homework and stay elsewhere.
The Ryman and DY....i hope, someday, to be there.
i'll leave it at that.
===============================================
i haven't traveled nearly as much as you have, CC, but i have seen a lot and Boston is my cherished, most favorite of all my travels.....there is so much they've done right.
i adore it and envy those who call it home.
=============================================
hugs around,
~dp & the winder snotters~
BL, the writing field is way too crowded! There are SO many talented folks.....even right here in Dwightland.
but thank you, a lovely thing to say.
e.
edit to remove the *P* in caption under DY's pic.
mr.dp called it "The Goop Show" all week....guess it stuck! |
