Newbies:

Don’t Be Afraid To Post.
If you’re new to our community, taking the step for the first time to post publicly to a message board can sometimes seem intimidating. Don’t be afraid to jump into a discussion.

We have a very supportive community that serves up heavy doses of support, encouragement and enthusiasm. We love meeting new people and being friendly. While we hope that you’ll become an active participant and join in our discussions, you’re welcome, of course, to simply hang out silently until you feel more comfortable posting a message.

Guideline #1:

---
Don't Feed The Trolls

Flamebaiting is posting with the intention to stir up trouble. Trolls use flamebaits to varying degrees to get a rise out of other posters. Do not respond to trolls. PM a member of the moderating team regarding the post. They'll take it from there.
---

Guideline #2:

---
Simple: Don't post porn (or pr0n, as some prefer Razz ). Ever. That would result in Immediate, and Permanent, banning of an account.

No vulgar language or profanity - This includes inappropriate words, inappropriate sexual references, or other vulgar statements. There is a profanity filter on this site but, obviously, it cannot be all encompassing.
---

Guideline #3:

---
Be civil - We invite and encourage a healthy exchange of opinions. If you disagree with an opinion or idea expressed by another member, by all means, challenge the opinion or idea - not the person. Personal attacks on individuals, insults and "flaming" will not be tolerated and will be removed. You may challenge others' points of view and opinions, but do so respectfully and thoughtfully.

Do not retaliate or respond in any way to a personal attack that you perceive to be directed at yourself or another member. All to often, when an initial attack is levied, others join the fray and instead of becoming part of the solution, they become part of the problem. If you feel that you have been the recipient of a personal attack, contact a Moderator immediately.
---

Guideline #4:

---
Please, don't flood the site with multiple posts or threads. Having lots of different threads related to the same thing just causes confusion. It's easier for everyone if they can find what they're looking for under the one thread.
---

Guideline #5:

---
You alone are responsible for the material you post.
If we receive complaints about users harassing other users either by forum message, email or by other methods you will be banned immediately. If serious enough we will also contact your ISP and report the matter.
---

Guideline #6:

---
Reposting something that was deleted: Posts (and links/threads) are removed for a reason. Reposting a deleted post, complaining about it, spamming the site about it, or belaboring the point will result in action being taken.
---

Guideline #7:

---
For your safety, please DO NOT post your telephone number or mailing address on the forums (exchange your contact information via email only). Do not even post your e-mail as the address is more secure using the e-mail icon in the post
---

Guideline #8:

---
Multiple Registrations: One account per person. All accounts are logged as per your IP address. We will check the IP details regularly. If multiple accounts are detected, both accounts may get deleted.
---

Guideline #9:

---
Off-site behavior: The short answer is WE DON'T CARE. Off-site melodrama is not our problem. However, we do care when users make it our problem by bringing drama and in-fighting on-site.

Never use your DDY account to harass other Fans. The reverse applies as well. If you've started a fight with another Fan, don't expect the Moderators to become your personal bodyguards. We do not tolerate harassment of DDY Moderators or Admins. If you've got an issue with a particular Fan or group of Fans, take it outside.

an observation and suggestion:

I notice currently Guideline #4 is absent...

I would suggest as a Guideline #4:
contributors realize there are no current plans
for any competition for most threads started by an individual
nor are there any awards for the most posts by a fan/contributor

I enjoy meeting and sharing with other Dwight fans
and especially learning about each other
as well as Dwight
but I have found attempts to dominate the forum
conspicious and inconsiderate...
just an opinion...
others may not agree with my observation and suggestion.

Many thanks to you "KentuckyGibsonY2K"
for your investment of time and energy
and your intelligent insights
used in the development of this fan "forum" Cool

Have a blessed day and much success to you in all your efforts.
